Maintenance help!

172 Views 3 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  Sporty
2017 xp 900 1000 miles property maintenance and occasional road use maybe 30 miles on easy trails. The only service it has had is an oil change 🤦‍♀️ (ugh… long story) Would like to complete as much of the needed work myself. Can anyone give me a list of the needed service and how difficult each one is? I am capable of fluid changes, lubrication, simple to moderate part replacements but no mechanic. Service manual has been ordered. Appreciate any info.

If you don't have an owners manual you can get one online here.
General maintenance is generally easy on the 900.
All the maintenance items are listed in the manual.
Front diff oil
Rear transmission oil
Motor oil and filter
Air filter
Spark Plugs
Clean and check clutches and belt
Grease any zerk fittings
Check coolant
Check brake fluid
Check brakes/pads
Check battery
Check bushings
Check wheel bearings
Check ball joints
Check CV joints
Check U-joints
Tire pressure
Fuel pressure
Valve clearances
Tire rotation
Alignment

I mean ZERO maintenance? How far in the weeds do you really want to go?

Thanks for that seemingly exhaustive list… I can do many of these but gonna need some help with a few. And yes ZERO maintenance, the person responsible for it wasn’t doing squat on this and many other things. This Sheila has learned and accomplished quite a bit with a little help from some new friends😊 Thanks again!
