I also struggled with this question and had broken both stock ones and the $99 cheap axles. The options are VERY limited.

American CV does sell a "heavy duty" middle axle for the 2010+ model 6x6's but it is NEVER in stock.(I've checked consistently for months)

There is a solution though!!!

They do sell a heavy duty 2007 axle. It DOES fit the newer machines with the new IRS rear suspension. Plus it is HUGE compared to the stock axles or the cheapo $99 joke axles. I've had this axle (link below) on my 2014 6x6 now for the last 300 plus miles. It's been flawless and tested as I'm running 30" cryptids on my machine.

And if it's not in stock at ACV and you're not sure (though alaskanparret's solution sounds solid) get in touch with them! They're usually pretty good about helping out.
