I have heard of people using different oil. However I always by the oil change kit and just keep it simple. It might cost more, but if you don't want to go against your warrant rules you should use the Polaris brand oils. We need to see if our sponsor will come up with some deals for there fluids, and see if those items can be shipped.

I also bought the oil change kit today. It was $30.93 for the filter and 2 quarts of oil.

I am using Lucas 0w40 2 quarts I think and after 50 hours the oil was still transparent, a little darker than when it was new. I also put the 50w Tranny fluid in and it seemed to quiten the trans whine.

I use AMSOIL in all my vehicles and yard machines and like it alot.
Somewhere in this computer I have a cross over chart from Polaris oils to the Amsoil equivilents but once again I put it somewhere and can't find it now.

I'll post it when I locate the darn file.

I had forgotten all about this but here is a copy/paste of what I have.

Recommendations for AMSOIL products to replace Polaris part numbers.

I cut/paste this post so I hope its legible.

POLARIS/= AMSOIL

-Polaris Premium 2-cycle oil/= AIT-injector oil

-Premium Gold Synthetic 2-cycle oil/= AIT-injector oil

-Polaris Premium 4 Synthetic 0W40/= AFF 0W40

-Polaris 10W or 20W40/= AMF 10W40

-Polaris Premium Synthetic gear case lube (SGL-AGL)/= TCC chaincase lube Part numbers 2871280, 2871478 and 2873602

-Front and Rear Gearcase Oil GL 80-90/= TGR 75W90

-Polaris Premium U-Joint Lube/= GLC dry conditions Part numbers 2871515 and 2871551/ GWR wet conditions

-O-Ring chain lube/= AMH metal protector

-Polaris Premium all season grease/= GHD

======================
Maybe easier to read…..
Polaris = Amsoil
Polaris 0W-40 Premium Synthetic = Amsoil Formula 4-Stroke OW-40 (AFF) ENGINE OIL

Polaris Synthetic Gearcase Lubricant (AGL) part #2873602 = Amsoil Series 2000 Synthetic Chaincase Lube (TCC) TRANSMISSION AND TRANSFER CASE

Polaris Premium ATV Angle Drive Fluid part #2871653 = Amsoil Severe Gear 75W-90 Synthetic Gear Oil (SVG) REAR GEAR CASE

Polaris Premium Demand Drive Hub Fluid part #2871654 (old part #-new #2876251, my edit) = Amsoil Shock Therapy Light (STL) FRONT CASE-DEMAND DRIVE.

The bold I added to (hopefully) help make it easier to understand.

The last item #2871654 is the Polaris part # for the hub fluid as listed in my 2004.5 Sportsman 700EFI, and our 2005 Sportsman 800EFI owners manuel. The RZR manuel has a # of 2876251. Having been in the parts business and seen how easy numbers are changed, could be simple a different vendor, or something else. Anyway, I would feel good using what Amsoil has recommended. Also found many have used the Amsoil 75W-90 gear lube without problems in everything but the engine. That is what I did on my two Sportsmen. I’m thinking since I’ve come across this that I may change them to follow Amsoil recommendations. A lot of discussion has been shared on this subject. Not trying to create more, but this information from Amsoil is important and can benefit many.
