Hello everyone, new to the forum here. Just got a 2016 Ranger 570 in the shop for a valve job. not starting. Got in there and all valves were in spec other than one of the exhaust valves which was at .017 which is the furthest out of spec ive seen on an engine this new. any idea what would cause this? also does this alone sound like enough to cause it to not start?

No clearance is what causes the cold no start, usually on the intakes. Hot no start or loss of power or running erratic or quitting altogether can be caused by too close or no clearance usually on the exhaust after it warms up.
That looseness on the one exhaust valve probably wouldn't affect starting or running.
The likely thing to cause that loose clearance would be a worn cam follower bucket.
It is possible it wasn't ever in spec when it was built.

I see tight inlets all the time, normally manifests in stalling coming to a stop... And yes I've seen it on machines straight from the crate so it could've been wrong from day one.
