Getting ready yo purchase a ranger and was wondering if anyone has a newer 500 efi they set up for mud (lift, tires, etc.) and was wondering if they preformed well or if I would be wasting my money and should get the 800?

Hey Fishslayer77
With 17" tires, I would like to know about the clutch as well, the Polaris service shop told me that you will notice it being sluggish off the line but once it is moving no noticeable loss of power. they also told me it will shorten the belt life?
Don't flame me, just repeating what i was told.
thx

Stock

I'm new to the utv world but been mudding in jeeps for years. I don't know how deep you plan on going, but I've mudded in stuff up to the floor boards in pretty thick stuff and have had no problems with the stock set up. Still have yet to use my winch. I don't have a lift or anything aftermarket other than the winch.
I have not ridden the 800, but I have taken my ranger 500 efi on some nasty trails and it really has done everything I've asked it to.
