2014 with Yanmar engine. Oil filter is always extremely tight when trying to remove. Is there an cap type wrench available? What is the cross reference for this filter from various filter mfg?

I know i dont run the diesel but maybe just being over tightened? I usually go hand tight minus gorilla grip. Maybe someone with a yanmar may point you in the right direction for a tool option.

Got the filter with a mega pair of channel locks, neither a strap wrench nor filter pliers would do it. Hopefully the new one will not be so hard to remove.

Just changed the oil in our 2012 and it was super tight as well. Not to mention somewhat difficult/awkward to get to. The channel lock idea sounds like a pretty good option. We used a chisel and hammer and tapped it lose.

The general rule of thumb is to spin the oil filter on until it stops then tighten an additional
1/4 turn. Get the old one off anyway you can.. There are plenty of oil filter that will fit
the one you are taking off.
