Hello Again I am posting here hoping someone might know something about this system. I am pretty sure the Solenoid on the Differential is bad (tests as a dead short) my question is the "relay" that powers it I thought I read supplies 12v and then drops voltage to maintain IE 12v to 3v anyone have any ideas I tested the voltage out of the relay its 12v and never drops. the Book say dont test it to long because it will over heat and burn up, so I would like to test the relay. to make sure it does not burn up a new 300 dollar part anyone have any idea how to test that relay???

The solenoid coil is a continuous winding.....so it will show a "short". Put your meter in the two holes of the plug that goes to the solenoid and engage/disengage the turf mode. If you have 12 volts it is good. Now this is not to say that the solenoid plunger is not getting stuck in or out though. The only reading to indicate a bad coil is an "open" meaning the coil winding is not making a continuous path.
