Didn't know where to place this thread. Figured here was as good as any? I need to scrape the dirt/gravel lanes at my place in West Virginia, mostly the Main lane going down to my trailer. So I bought a Brinly 38" sleeve hitch box scraper. It's been shipped but haven't received it yet. Back in Oct. of '11 and then in Feb. of '12, I had the lanes scraped, widened, and resurfaced. Had them done at separate times because of Hunting season. All the lanes have been holding up great. The culverts have been holding up well and they are all still intact with little or no damage. The company used a different mixture on the main driveway lane than what was used on the other three lanes. The mixture that was used on the driveway had a lot of clay and large "Rocks" in it. But it wasn't until after most of the clay had washed away that they appeared. Some are quite large, like softball size, and a lot are jagged. And there are a lot of them. You can imagine what it's like trying to ride over these "Boulders". So, I got the Box Scraper to scrap them off of the lane. So now I come to the reason for this thread. I didn't know much about these implements until I started looking for what I wanted. That's when I learned of what else I needed to use the scraper. A Sleeve Hitch. But funds are low. About the best option for me is a 1 point hitch lift like one sold by Impact Implements. They have two versions. One with a hand crank ($139.99), and one that uses a 12V actuator ($499.99!!!). I would like the 12V actuator because I wouldn't have to keep getting out of the Buggy to crank the scraper up and down when I need to turn around. A question. Has anyone used these before? How do they hold up? I'm thinking.......About getting the one with the hand crank. Then buy my own actuator (about $140.00) and brackets ($15.00), and make my own 12V lift for half the price. Has anyone attempted this. Thanks!! A few pics. First is the Box Scraper. One of the 1 point with the Hydraulic actuator. One with the Hand Crank, and then one were I erased the Hand crank and photoshopped an Actuator to illustrate what I had in mind.
Welp, I put photos in but they're not showing up, don't know why. Sorry......
