Hi !

I'm new here as I've just bought my first Ranger, an unworking 2013 model with low hours on it. Hopefully, it will be "only" a dead LA batteries issue. My plan is to convert it to Lithium.
It will be delivered next week but this can't be done right at my door.
Can It be towed for 2km without any issues ? Is there any shop or user manual available online ?

By the way, many thanks for your forum, it has lot of usefull pre-purchase informations.

Many thanks in advance for your help !

Yes, but don't go over 25 mph since the motor will be spinning.

Click the link in this thread and type EV in the search box on the Website.

The push/pull pole is how I have moved mine:

Txs ! I need to find out but for regular cars it is mandatory to have something directly link to the frame for towing it with a tow bar front and back. I don't know if this applies to light vehicles and probably not in 2013 as regulations for light vehicles changed a lot in 2017.
With regard to French towing bar regulations requiring the front hitch be frame mounted, the aftermarket receiver hitch essentially is frame mounted (see below, mounts to bumper and frame). Towing about 1 mile I'd take the simple approach and use a tow strap. That is, if the brakes work and it is not on a highway, which you cannot do anyway given the 24mph limit. If you get busted by the cops, paying a fine likely is less costly that getting into buying a tow bar/hitch/ball.

I put mine on a utility trailer to haul it from one location to another. Winch it up the ramp and into the trailer, then strap it down.

You may be able to tow it backward with the rear wheels on a dolly, and let the front wheels free-wheel (since they are not engaged when there is no 12V power. 4x4 requires 12V to engage a solenoid). I have not tried that as yet.

Hello, I finally was able to tow it with a towbar attached under the front bumper, no dammage as we drove very slowly.
Since, I did some work on the brakes, added a dc dc converter which was missing and after filling the batteries with water and some equalization charges it works ! At least enough for my actual needs of small maintenance in my property.

Still needs to deal with the suspension pivot which have a lot of play.

Next step, will be either the lithium conversion (I have a lot of used car cells in stock and an orion BMS) and adding power steering.

I know this answer might be a bit late, but for others who might have the same question, towing a Ranger EV with a towbar attached under the front bumper seems to work, as long as you drive slowly to avoid any damage. Good job on the brake work, adding the missing DC-DC converter, and getting the batteries back in shape! As for the suspension pivot, dealing with the play is the next step. By the way, while browsing online, I came across car lockout services, which might come in handy for future situations. Just thought I'd share the info.
